Demolition of buildings within the United Airlines complex near Dempster and Algonquin roads in Mount Prospect has begun.
As of Wednesday afternoon (June 22), crews were at work demolishing two of the large office buildings on the 55-acre site. The most visible building on the property, the 7-story “hotel” that provided lodging and training for United employees such as pilots and flight attendants will also be razed. When that will occur is not yet known.
About a month ago the village issued TUR Ventures, LLC, the developers of the acreage, a demolition permit for the property that expires in a year. After the buildings are demolished, work to construct three large data centers will begin. Each of the structures will be built one at a time with final completion expected in late 2026. The three buildings will total 566,767 sq. ft.
