Engine problem causes delay for United Airlines jet
A United Airlines flight from San Francisco International Airport was delayed from taking off for Japan for five hours because of an engine problem on Monday.

United Airlines is under increased oversight after a series of incidents over the past few months raised questions about safety at the airline.
In a memo sent to employees on Friday, Sasha Johnson, United’s vice president for corporate safety said that the increased number of episodes “have rightfully caused us to pause and evaluate whether there is anything we can and should do differently.”
According to the memo, which USA TODAY reviewed, the Federal Aviation Administration is stepping up its presence in United’s operations to try to understand what’s gone wrong.
