Almost all of Wizz Air’s 20 routes have been removed already, while the others cease by March 26th. A large chunk is within Western Europe, a geographic area that the ULCC has really focused on – part of a network reorientation – since the pandemic began. They join multiple other Vienna routes cut late last year.
The 20 routes include Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya in Ukraine. It’d be easy to conclude that they’re inevitably ending because of the war and that they can’t operate. However, they seem like proper cuts, as Kyiv Zhuliany is postponed but still bookable later this year.

Wizz Air cuts 20 Vienna routes
A list of Wizz Air’s changes is as follows. They’ll be offset by routes starting to London Gatwick (March 27th), Amman (March 29th), and Kukës (June 4th). Gatwick replaces lower-frequency London Luton, whose cut was previously announced.
Wizz Air started most, but not all, of the 20 routes during or just before the pandemic. Exceptions include Malta (June 2018), Eindhoven and Malaga (July 2018), Kharkiv, Lisbon, and Thessaloniki (November 2018), and Milan (February 2019).
It is possible some will return this winter or in 2023, although there’s no indication that this will happen. In contrast, others, such as Vienna to Castellón, have been postponed until next winter.
