Wizz Air today shared that it is continuing its efforts to aid Ukrainian refugees. The European aviation powerhouse noted that there are still plenty of free seats available on its flights for those in urgent need following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Crucial assistance
Earlier in the month, Wizz Air announced that it is offering free seats and rescue fares amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. The company highlighted that refugees moving across Europe are able to fly for free from Romania, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia.
The relief continues, with the carrier highlighting that it has extended the period of availability for the free seats until April 10th. Refugees can access free seats on services departing from Katowice, Budapest, Gdańsk, and Kraków.
Certain flights have sold out on specific dates, but Wizz continues to analyze bookings and is announcing new seats where possible. It is also placing larger aircraft and additional services from border countries to assist with refugee transport.

We are pleased that Wizz Air has been able to support Ukrainian refugees and we are committed to continuing this initiative until 10 April in the hope that as many people as possible are able to reach a safe place soon. We have already seen great humanitarian efforts on the ground by our people across the network, and as a company we wanted to play our part in these efforts. We are happy to provide a safe and welcoming journey for these refugees.”
