Sabre Corporation, a software and technology provider to the travel industry, has announced the appointment of Chinmai Sharma as Global Head of Lodging, Ground & Sea for Sabre Travel Solutions. In this role, Sharma will lead the lodging, ground, and sea segment to support Sabre’s growth objectives in the global distribution business. The company aims to become the premier B2B lodging platform by enhancing its Content Services for Lodging platform, focusing on the dynamic consumption and distribution of lodging content. These enhancements will be supported by intelligent retailing solutions such as Lodging AI.
The appointment of Sharma is considered crucial in achieving these goals. Sharma has over two decades of experience in the global travel and hospitality industry and has been recognized in the past as one of the ‘Top 20 Extraordinary Minds within Sales, Marketing, and Technology’ by HSMAI Europe. He is actively involved with non-profit hospitality associations and serves as a mentor with the start-up incubator at NYU Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality Innovation Hub.
In his new role, Sharma is excited to work with Sabre’s team of experts in connecting agencies and travelers with meaningful experiences. He believes that the managed travel category brings quality travelers to travel suppliers, and he aims to build an end-to-end travel marketplace with market-leading solutions at Sabre. Sharma’s previous experience includes working with leading companies such as Expedia, Wyndham Hotel Group, Starwood Capital Group, and Taj Group of Hotels. He was most recently the President – Americas for RateGain, where he played a crucial role in their growth strategy leading to a successful IPO.
Sharma holds a degree in Hotel Management, a B.A. with Mathematics, and a joint MBA from ESSEC Business School and Cornell Hotel School.
