Dublin City Council has rejected a planning application by Radiant Now for a short-term let development on Kildare Street, which drew comparisons with an Airbnb proposition. Radiant Now had sought to create short-term let accommodation for nine apartments by converting two residential properties. In a submission to the council, Magdalena Stawarz of Collins Maher Martin Architects stated that the switch would provide a “greater income potential” and allow for consist maintenance of the properties. However, the council stated that the development would contravene both its development plan and its housing policies.
