Last month south-coastal Englanders received some bad news: British Airways is axing all flights from Southampton Airport. BA previously offered routes from the Hampshire hub to destinations in Spain, Portugal, France and Ireland.
This week, however, Southampton Airport received some much better news. Airline Tui has announced that it will be returning to the air hub after 15 years away. The German airline last operated from Soton in October 2009.
Tui is launching a service from Southampton to Palma de Mallorca in Spain, and the flights will be weekly on Tuesdays from May 27 2025 until September 20 2025. The route syncs up with the summer program of Marella Cruises.
About the new route, Tui’s director of aviation planning Karen Switzer said: ‘We are extremely excited to return to Southampton Airport to reconnect travellers with the vibrant corner of the world that is Palma.
