Everything to know about Boeing 737-800s after Tui flight investigation

One year ago this month, a Tui Boeing 737-8k5 veered off a runway at Leeds Bradford airport.

Now, investigators say the passenger jet suffered a “catastrophic failure” when it left the runway and went onto the grass after touching down during heavy crosswinds from Storm Babet.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) found that one of the aircraft’s nose wheel bearings failed, likely during the “rollout”, the final phase of landing when the aircraft moves along the runway and taxis to its parking spot.

The AAIB confirmed that, although the aircraft sustained minor damage, nobody onboard the flight from Corfu was injured
