A TUI fly Netherlands Boeing 787-8 operating a service from Brussels to Hurghada, Egypt returned to Brussels after sustaining a lightning strike on 22 December 2024.
TUI flight TB3011 had conducted a departure from Brussels Airport (BRU). The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service bound for Hurghada International Airport (HRG).

As the aircraft was on climb after departure, it sustained a lightning strike. Flight crew elected to make a precautionary return to the origin airport.
A direct return was then carried out, and the flight landed without further incident on a runway 25L Brussels Airport. The return was made just under 55 minutes after the flight’s initial departure.
