SHE famously sang about a beautiful island in her 1986 hit La Isla Bonita.
But it seems Madonna will be heading to a different shore as she is lined up to perform a FREE mega-show on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach to close out her world-conquering Celebration Tour.
The Queen of Pop is believed to be performing on May 4 to the biggest ever crowd of her four- decade career — with around two million fans expected to party on the sand in Rio.
A source said: “Madonna is unstoppable and she wants to mark her historic tour with a truly special ending.
“Fans from all over the world are expected to travel to see her perform in what is expected to be an extravaganza.
“Her Celebration Tour has already sealed itself as the pop concert of the decade.
‘It’s time to get ready’
“But this concert will be the cherry on the cake.”
Meanwhile Rio’s official tourism office, Visit Rio, has told fans to brace themselves for the big show.
A post advertising the concert read: “It’s time to get ready! On May 4, the Queen of Pop arrives in Rio de Janeiro for a free and historic show at Copacabana Beach.
“Madonna closes The Celebration Tour here in Wonder City, marking her 40-year career with a show that promises to be her biggest yet.”
The Like A Virgin hitmaker will be following in the footsteps of other industry greats who have performed free shows on Copacabana.
Rod Stewart smashed the Guinness World Record for the largest free rock concert when he thrilled a crowd of 4.2million on New Year’s Eve 1994, then in 2006 the Rolling Stones strutted their stuff in front of 1.5million fans on the fabled sands.
Last month Madge celebrated her 64th Top Ten single in the UK after returning to the Official Charts for the first time since 2009.
It was thanks to 2021…
