In a partnership set to redefine urban transportation, InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of India’s leading airline, Indigo, has joined forces with US-based Archer Aviation to introduce electric air taxis to the Indian market by early 2026. The service aims to reduce travel time and congestion in major cities drastically.
Archer Aviation, renowned for its innovative electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, will supply 200 cutting-edge planes for the venture. Each eVTOL can accommodate four passengers and a pilot, promising swift, noise-minimised journeys akin to helicopters but with enhanced safety features.
The collaboration will focus on major metropolitan hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Commuters can expect a seamless experience, with the Delhi-Gurugram route projected to take just seven minutes, compared to the arduous 90-minute journey by car. The cost of this…
