South Korea’s Culture Ministry has announced that it has agreed with Japan to boost the tourism industry between the two countries as part of an effort to normalise their strained relationship. The South Korean and Japanese tourism ministers recently met to discuss measures to facilitate more travel between the nations. While the number of Japanese tourists visiting South Korea has increased since Covid-19 restrictions have eased, the numbers remain low compared to the numbers of South Koreans visiting Japan. The move follows a meeting between the South Korean President and Japanese Prime Minister, during which they agreed to improve their bilateral ties and increase security cooperation.
