Australian travelers will no longer need to obtain Korea’s Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) when traveling to South Korea from April 2023 to December 2024. In an effort to boost tourism to the country, the Korean government’s Visit Korea Year 2023-2024 initiative has temporarily exempted passport holders from 21 countries, including Australia and New Zealand. The exemption also applies to those who already have a K-ETA, who will not have to submit an arrival card upon entering South Korea. The move comes after Qantas launched non-stop flights between Sydney and Seoul in December 2022. Currently, more airlines operate flights from Australia to Korea than to Japan.
