Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has unveiled plans to boost tourism in the country, with the goal of encouraging more people to add Korea to their travel bucket list. The government-wide plan is aimed at capitalising on the recent high level of interest in K-culture amongst people in their 20s and 30s. Included in the plans are major K-pop concerts and events between April and October across different locations, as well as developing tourism in the vicinity of the Blue House, creating a “Cheongwadae Tourism Cluster”. Visa reforms will make it easier for foreigners to stay in the country. Discount vouchers for accommodations and amusement parks will be promoted for domestic tourism, and medical and luxury tourism will be developed through the promotion of private tours and packages.
