South Korea and Japan have agreed to boost tourism between the two countries. The two countries agreed to cooperate in promoting tourism and human exchange to provide further impetus to the countries’ bilateral ties. The agreement was made during the first official visit by a South Korean tourism minister to Japan in six years. The two countries also agreed to establish a joint committee on tourism promotion in order to share information and develop joint tourism packages. They hope to increase the number of tourists from each other’s countries by promoting the diverse attractions of each destination. South Korea and Japan are already popular tourist destinations for each other, with South Korea attracting over 5 million Japanese tourists in 2019 and Japan attracting over 2.5 million South Korean tourists in the same year.
