Myanmar’s coup leader, Min Aung Hlaing, has caused outrage after building a glass bridge in front of the iconic Pwe Kauk waterfall in Pyin Oo Lwin. He has also added shops, playgrounds, and music shows to the area, transforming it from a natural beauty spot into something resembling a street fair. The admission fee has been increased, and a group of junta-linked cronies now do business in the area. Despite warnings from the US and UK, Russian bloggers have been promoting Myanmar’s tourism destinations and the junta-organized Thingyan festival. Junta boss Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently recovering from a minor operation, has been seen playing with his granddaughter and visiting national gardens and waterfalls.
