Azerbaijan’s Tourism Sector Sees Significant Growth
Baku, Azerbaijan – Azerbaijan’s tourism industry has experienced a notable surge in recent times. The country welcomed a substantial number of foreign visitors in the first half of 2024, indicating a strong recovery and expansion of its tourism potential.
Increase in International Visitors
From January 1 to June 1, 2024, Azerbaijan hosted 1,335,371 foreign citizens. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The primary nationalities visiting Azerbaijan during this period were from Russia, Türkiye, Iran, India, and China.
Arrivals by Mode of Transport
The majority of foreign visitors entered Azerbaijan via road transport, accounting for 540,222 individuals. Air travel was the second most popular mode, with 502,818 passengers arriving at Azerbaijani airports. Railway transport saw 19,805 international travelers, and sea transport facilitated the arrival of 384 individuals.
Growth in Tourism Revenue
The tourism sector has also demonstrated impressive financial performance. In the first four months of 2024, the revenue generated from tourism services reached 1,084,400,000 manats. This marks a substantial 17.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
