AS President Samia Suluhu Hassan marks three years in office, a number of achievements have been recorded including substantial increases in tourist arrivals and revenues.
Angellah Kairuki, the Natural Resources and tourism minister, made the remarks in Dar es Salaam on Monday evening when speaking at a media briefing to commemorate three years of the sixth phase presidency.
She said tourist arrivals increased by 191 percent to a record breaking 1,808,205 tourists in the year ending December 2023, compared to 620,867 tourists back in 2020, with earnings also growing by 371 percent to $3bn in 2023 from $0.7bn in 2020.
These achievements result from major investments the president made along with other leaders and stakeholders thus witnessing major transformation in the sector, she said
