In September 2023, Air Canada announced that it would be acquiring 18 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners with options for another 12. The first delivery of these is scheduled for late 2025. While these new aircraft will “be used to replace older, less efficient wide-body aircraft,” it’s still not a direct replacement for the carrier’s 777-300ERs. Considering the airline’s close relationship with Boeing and a move away from Airbus widebodies, could the upcoming 777-9 be chosen as the successor to the -300ER?
