Earlier today, an Air India Boeing 777 operating a flight between New Delhi and New York Newark diverted to Keflavik with an unspecified issue onboard.

Air India flight AI105 is a routine scheduled flight between New Delhi and New York Newark, with the affected rotation diverting to Keflavik being operated by VT-ALR.
As per data from Planespotters.net, VT-ALR is a 14.4 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to the Indian carrier back in September 2009.
Of the 777-300ER variant, the carrier has 17 of them, of which 13 are in active service and the other four are parked, offering an average fleet age of 13.4 years.
Air India flight AI105 departed New Delhi at 0249 local time this morning and proceeded in a northernly direction then west towards New York Newark.
Upon reaching Greenland, the Boeing 777-300ER deviated south and descended towards Keflavik, Iceland, with the aircraft not declaring an emergency via the use of the 7700 squawk code at any time during this process.
AI105 then landed into the Icelandic airport safely at 0816 local time this morning. At the time of writing (23/1/24 @ 1600 UK time), the aircraft is still on the ground following this diversion.
It is unclear what the reason for the divert is, with the flight from New Delhi to New York being disrupted in this way highlighting uncertainty for what comes next.
Spotters have noticed the aircraft on flight tracking applications since, hinting that it may be continuing on to the U.S in the next few hours ahead.
UPDATE #1 @ 1608 UK time – Air India flight AI105 has since departed Keflavik and is continuing on to New York Newark following it’s diversion a few hours ago.
