Yesterday, an Air India Airbus A321 bound for Bangalore made an emergency landing in it’s departure airport of New Delhi due to a fire onboard.
Information has been released regarding this incident, which happened very quickly.

Air India flight AI807, which made an emergency landing, is a routine scheduled flight between New Delhi and Bangalore.
The aircraft involved in the incident was VT-PPT.
As per data from Planespotters.net, VT-PPT is a 14.6 year old Airbus A321ceo that was delivered to the airline in October 2009.
Of the A321ceo variant, Air India has 13 of them in the fleet.
Furthermore, of that 13, all but one are in active service, offering an average fleet age of 15.1 years.
AI807 departed New Delhi at 1730 local time yesterday evening and initially climbed out to Bangalore.
However, just 7,000 feet into it’s climb, the aircraft stopped the process and entered a series of holds twice.
From there, the Air India aircraft made a short-field emergency landing back into it’s departure field without further incident.
Reporting from The Aviation Herald states that the reason for this diversion was due to a suspected fire in the aircraft’s air conditioning.
Data from RadarBox shows that VT-PPT, the Air India Airbus A321 involved in the emergency landing, is still on the ground in New Delhi following the incident.
Maintenance teams will need to check the extent of the damage and also repair it.
At this stage, it is unclear when the aircraft will return to commercial service will be.
