New Delhi: Air India, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) have come together to make international air travel more convenient for passengers in the capital. They are introducing check-in services at two metro stations — New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium. This means passengers can drop off their luggage at these stations, saving them from carrying their luggage around while exploring the city.
With collective efforts by the DMRC and DIAL, an advanced automated systems developed. During the time, the international flyers would be roaming around the city, their luggage will be securely transferred to the aircraft using by DMRC and DIAL. It was initially available for domestic flights. The service is now being extended to international travelers. It will be operating from 7 am to 9 pm at the designated metro stations, once it is in implemented.
Passengers should noted that they check in their luggage 12 to 2 hours before their domestic flight and 4 to 2 hours before their international flight. With trains running every 10 minutes, it only takes around 19 minutes to reach Terminal 3 departure level at Delhi airport from the metro stations, making the journey faster and easier.
Rajesh Dogra, Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, believes this initiative will not only provide a cost-effective option for travelers from distant places but also alleviate congestion at the airport, ultimately enhancing the experience for all passengers.
