Bengaluru : Air India, Private carrier operated its first Airbus A350 aircraft, the first such plane from the country from kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), Bengaluru to Mumbai. According to an official statement, Air India launched the maiden scheduled commercial flight with Imia’s first aircraft in the new bold Air India livery—from KIA at 7.05 am Monday.
The A350, which has capacity of 316 passengers, saw 297 board the flight to Mumbai. Initially the Airbus plane will be deployed on domestic routes for crew familiarisation and regulatory compliance purposes, The Aircraft will be later deployed for long haul flights to destinations across continents, strengthening the airline’s wide-body fleet, comprising its own and recently leased aircraft.
The press statement said, The a350-900 aircraft will have a three-class cabin configuration of 316 seats, including 28 private business suites with full-flat beds, 24 premium economy seats with extra legroom and other amenities, and 264 spacious economy seats, All seats on Aircraft feature the latest generation in-flight entertainment system and HD screens, Fitted with Rolls Royce engines, these aircraft are 20 percent more fuel efficient than other similar planes, reducing fuel emissions and ensuring sustainable operation.
