MedAire’s MedLink app will guide crew members through complex medical scenarios, ensuring the best possible care for passengers during an emergency.
Air India, one of India’s leading airlines, has teamed up with MedAire, a top aviation medical support provider, to offer emergency healthcare services to passengers and crew during flights.
This new initiative makes Air India the first Indian airline to implement MedAire’s advanced medical assistance across its entire fleet, setting a new standard in the aviation sector.
Through MedAire’s MedLink app, Air India will have 24/7 access to emergency physicians who specialize in aviation. These doctors will be available for consultations during in-flight medical situations, helping assess and manage any health issues that arise. As Air India continues to expand its nonstop long-haul flights, this partnership emphasizes the airline’s dedication to safety.
As per the official Press Release, Air India’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, said, “MedAire’s expertise in providing medical support services for airlines will meet the requirements of our expanding operations. The initiative extends beyond immediate health benefits, positioning Air India as a leader in customer care and operational excellence.”

The collaboration not only handles medical emergencies effectively but also aims to reduce medical diversions by providing real-time professional assistance. If a diversion is necessary, MedAire will recommend the best airport for the emergency landing and alert the airport to handle the situation.
MedAire’s CEO, Bill Dolny, expressed excitement about the partnership, calling it a milestone for both companies and the Indian aviation industry. He highlighted the shared commitment to setting new standards in in-flight healthcare.
In the future, this partnership will help Air India assess a passenger’s health at the airport before the flight if needed, preventing in-flight medical events and reducing the risks of unplanned landings.
