According to TOI, Air India launched its first scheduled commercial flight from KIA on Monday at 7.05 a.m. using India’s first Airbus A350-900, which was also the first aircraft in the new Bold Air India livery. The A350, which has a capacity of 316 passengers, had 297 people board the trip to Mumbai.
Initially, the Airbus plane will be deployed on domestic routes to familiarise the crew and ensure regulatory compliance. Passengers from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai can fly the A350, which is one of 470 new aircraft orders placed by Air India less than a year ago. The aircraft will eventually be deployed for long-haul flights to locations across continents, adding to the airline’s wide-body fleet, which includes both its own and newly leased aircraft.
The A350-900 will include a three-class cabin with 316 seats, including 28 private business suites with full-flat beds, 24 premium economy seats with more legroom and other amenities, and 264 capacious economy seats. All seats on the plane have the most recent generation of in-flight entertainment systems with HD TVs. These aircraft, equipped with Rolls-Royce engines, are 20% more fuel-efficient than equivalent planes, lowering fuel emissions and assuring long-term operations, according to the statement.
