Air India’s new inflight safety video titled ‘Safety Mudras’ has created quite a buzz not just in the flight but on social media too. Netizens are praising the video for its vibrant colours and introducing a whole new concept of inflight safety announcements.
The video features Bharatnatyam, Kathakali, Ghoomar, Bihu, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kathak, and Giddha.
Each dancer narrates a specific part of the safety instructions and depicts it using ‘mudras’ (hand gesture).
Air India shared the video in a post on X on February 23 and captioned it: “For centuries, Indian classical dance and folk-art forms have served as a medium of storytelling and instruction. Today, they tell another story, that of inflight safety. Presenting Air India’s new Safety Film, inspired by the rich and diverse dance traditions of India.”

In a statement, the airline said the video was developed in collaboration with lyricist Prasoon Joshi, singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan, and director Bharatbala.
The safety video will be initially available on Air India’s recently introduced A350 aircraft. It will later be seen on other aircrafts.
