IndiGo, India’s largest airline by fleet size and market share, carried 80 lakh domestic passengers, maintaining its lead with a 60.6% market share, up 0.1% from the previous month. Air India held the second spot, carrying 18.80 lakh passengers with a market share of 14.2%, up 1.1% month-on-month.
Vistara transported 12.18 lakh passengers, securing a 9.2% market share, though it saw a 0.4% decrease from the previous month. Air India Express carried 7.17 lakh passengers, holding a 5.4% market share, also down 0.4% month-on-month. Collectively, all Tata Group airlines accounted for a 28.8% market share, carrying a total of 38.15 lakh passengers.
SpiceJet’s market share declined to 4.7% from 5.3% month-on-month, with the airline carrying 6.17 lakh passengers in April. Akasa Air’s market share remained stable at 4.4%, transporting 5.80 lakh passengers.
In terms of on-time performance (OTP), Akasa Air was the most punctual airline with an OTP of 89.2%. Air India Express and Vistara followed, with OTPs of 79.5% and 76.2%, respectively. IndiGo recorded an OTP of 76.1%, while Air India and SpiceJet were the least punctual, with OTPs of 72.1% and 64.2%, respectively.
