Man Claims To Be ‘Terrorist’ On Air India Flight Minutes Before Takeoff From Bengaluru, Held – News18

A 20-year-old man travelling from Bengaluru to Lucknow on an Air India fight created panic among travellers, cabin crew, and security personnel minutes before departure after he claimed to be part of a terror group, reported The Indian Express.

The man was later arrested and was identified as Adarsh Kumar Singh, son of an assistant police sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh.

Police probe revealed that the man, who studied at a private college in Bengaluru, was mentally unwell after he did not do well in his exams. He was later released on bail, the police told The Indian Express.

Police said Singh boarded the flight on February 17 after the security check, but wanted to get off the plane minutes before the departure.

Police said when the crew members tried to pacify him, Singh shouted at them and claimed that he worked for a ‘terrorist organisation’.

The crew members alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that took him out of the flight and frisked him and the baggage, said an officer.

The CISF officials discovered nothing suspicious and subsequently turned him over to the Kempegowda airport police.

Following a complaint from Air India staff, a case has been filed at the Kempegowda airport police station against Singh, invoking Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to making statements that cause public mischief.

Police said Singh was experiencing relationship problems with his girlfriend. His family members informed the police about Adarsh’s mental health issues, and police had requested medical reports from his family, an officer said.
