A 34-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested for smoking inside the lavatory on an Air India flight travelling from Jaipur to Mumbai on Saturday. The man entered the lavatory when the flight was mid-air and smoked, officials said.
He was caught after the crew members observed smoke ash inside the lavatory after he exited.

“Despite clear instructions from the crew, Thalore entered the lavatory mid-air and smoked,” a police officer was quoted as saying by TOI.
This is the second such incident to be reported this month.
On May 8, a 51-year-old passenger was caught smoking in the lavatory of a Vistara flight travelling from Muscat to Mumbai. The passenger, Balakrishna Rajayan, reportedly went to the lavatory at the rear side of the aircraft and lit up a cigarette.
The incident came to light when the pilot of the aircraft noticed it with the help of a smoke detector. The pilot informed the crew members, following which they checked the lavatory and found a cigarette bud in the wash basin, the official said.
The crew members informed the security stafee after the flight landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. The officials confronted the passenger, who then admitted that he had smoked inside the lavatory. He was later taken to the Sahar police station in the city, where a complaint was filed against him by the security supervisor.
A case was registered against the passenger under section 336 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code and section 25 of the Aircraft Rules, the official said.
