Prioritising safety! Air India partners with MedAire to provide real-time support for in-flight medical emergencies – Airlines/Aviation News

Air India and aviation medical support provider MedAire has partnered with to ensure emergency healthcare services for the airline’s passengers and crew on flights.

In addition to managing medical emergencies, this collaboration aims to minimise medical diversions by providing real-time professional assistance, thereby reducing inconvenience to passengers.

The airline said that MedAire will employ its app Medlink to provide round-the-clock access to a team of on-duty emergency physicians with specialized knowledge in aviation. This team will provide consultation in the event of an in-flight medical situation, aiding in the assessment of the medical condition and recommending appropriate care.

“In case a diversion is advised, the most suitable airport for such medical emergency landing is also recommended by the MedAire network and the airport also alerted to handle the situation,” a release said.

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson expressed confidence that MedAire’s expertise in providing medical support services for airlines will cater to the needs of the airline’s expanding operations.

“The collaboration, in future, will help Air India assess a passenger’s health condition at the airport before his flight if required, which would prevent an in-flight medical event and possible diversion, reducing the risks associated with an unplanned landing,” the release added.
