ANA (All Nippon Airways) has launched a new service named “ANA Smart Travel,” which aims to streamline the travel experience for passengers. This service, which commenced operations on October 17, 2024, at Fukuoka Airport for domestic flights, features a “facial recognition express pass” system.
The core functionality of ANA Smart Travel is to enable passengers to move efficiently from check-in through security checkpoints and onto their boarding gates using only their facial image. Passengers register their facial image and flight information at a dedicated ANA Smart Check-in machine. Once this registration is complete, their facial data is linked to their flight details, negating the requirement to present a boarding pass or smartphone at subsequent stages of their journey.
This initiative is designed to enhance passenger convenience and improve the overall operational efficiency of airport processes. ANA intends to expand the availability of the “ANA Smart Travel” service to other domestic airports in the future.
