American Airlines, which has sponsored many very successful aircraft entered the jet era with a three-pronged strategy which we bring to you in spectacular colour.
Leading the charge was the Boeing 707 backed up by the Convair 990 with the Lockheed Electra for short-haul routes.
To launch the 707 and Electra in 1959 American Airlines produced the brochure below. The Convair 900 followed several years later.
