An American Airlines flight’s operations were disrupted after a “disgruntled” passenger loudly farted inside the aircraft. The passenger was asked to leave the plane later. The incident came to light in a post on Reddit by the username Glamgalatx, who detailed the incident that took place on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona, to Austin, Texas.
According to the Reddit user the passenger appeared “audibly disgruntled” or “maybe hungover” when the boarding of passengers was taking place. He was also grumbling about something under his breath, the Reddit post said.
After several minutes passed and the majority of passengers had boarded the aircraft, the man was overheard saying, “You think that was rude? Well, how about this smell!” and farted.
As per the post, the man’s bizarre behaviour did not stop there.
As the flight served food and passengers began unpacking snacks and eating food, the same man who had just passed gas decided to loudly announce to other passengers of the plane, “Yeah, everybody. Let us just eat the smelliest food possible all at the same time.”
To this, a fellow passenger replied to the man, “If you do not like it, you can fly private” and a spat ensued on the plane where other passengers chimed in and held the “disgruntled” man accountable for his rude behaviour.
As per the Reddit user, the plane which was taxiing on the runway and preparing for takeoff was ordered to return to the gate. The flight crew member stepped into the argument between passengers onboard and made an announcement over the speaker, “Apologies for the interruption, but we are returning to the gate”.
Subsequently, a flight attendant approached the “fart man” and informed him that he would not be staying on the flight. The official told the man that he would be given the reason for the same once they disembarked the plane.
He then got up, grabbed his belongings and exited the plane, much to other passenger’s relief.
The post garnered thousands of likes and comment, with mostly fart-related jokes. Another Reddit user commented on the post saying, “He should have farted on his way out and yelling “Smell you later!”.
