From the pulsing energy of Rodney Bay to the rainforest retreats of Soufriere, the island of Saint Lucia is as diverse a destination as you can find in the Caribbean, whether you’re staying in a three-walled room with an infinity pool or spending your week on a working cacao farm.
And with the island’s travel renaissance continuing, the world’s largest airline has announced plans to ramp up flights to the “Helen of the West Indies” for the summer.
Beginning in June, American Airlines will be adding a second daily flight between Miami and Saint Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport, Caribbean Journal has confirmed.
The expanded service will be running throughout the summer, with flights through at least Sept. 3, 2024.
American is also upping capacity on its Philadelphia-Saint Lucia flight, with an additional 52 seats thanks to a switch to Airbus A321 aircraft.
American also operates flights between Charlotte and Saint Lucia.
“The introduction of additional services aligns seamlessly with our ongoing initiatives to tap into the expanding US market and enhance airlift to the destination. American Airlines’ decision underscores their confidence in Saint Lucia and their unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding service to our valued visitors,” said Lorine Charles-St. Jules, CEO of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
American continues to add more flights to the Caribbean for the summer months, a very strong sign as to its outlook for the region in the second half of the year.
