American Airlines jet circles over Jersey Shore before diverting to J.F.K. with a mechanical problem

A jet bound for London, England, circled over Atlantic and Cape May counties on Friday evening before being diverted to a New York City airport.

The American Airlines flight landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport after experiencing a mechanical issue, the air carrier said in a statement on Monday to NJ Advance Media.

The flight resumed for London on Saturday, an American Airlines spokesperson said. Passengers were provided hotel accommodations.
