American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) is preparing to order about 100 single-aisle planes, with European aviation company Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) likely to receive a bigger portion of the purchase than Boeing (NYSE:BA), Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The allotment of Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) A321 and Boeing (BA) 737 Max 8 is being negotiated, and a deal may be announced in coming weeks, the sources said.
Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) and American (AAL) declined to comment on the report, while Boeing (BA) referred questions to the airline.
American (AAL) is still taking deliveries from a landmark order in 2011 for 460 planes from Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) and Boeing (BA).
The upcoming order would replace 737-800, A319 and A320 single-aisle models later this decade, Bloomberg News reported.
