American Airlines will resume its six-weekly flights to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
As of November 2024, American Airlines will resume six flights per week, omitting Wednesday.
The American Airlines platform is open for these bookings as of today (January 23).
Currently, American Airlines operates three weekly flights from Miami on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
American Airlines reduced its daily flights to the island in June 2023, after beginning in March 2023.
In an email last year, American Airlines informed the St Vincent Times that “American operated daily service to SVD from March 1 to June 4, 2023.” We currently operate two weekly flights and want to extend to three weekly flights during the winter season”.
According to sources, the publication discovered that American Airlines is not legally bound by contract to stick to a specific schedule. As a result, the airline’s flight schedule is controlled by market demand and is subject to change at any time throughout the year.
Minister of Tourism Carlos James said on Tuesday that preliminary 2023 January-December data showed a 35.7 percent increase in arrivals over the same period in 2022.
“While arrivals became increasingly erratic and unpredictable, regional aviation service persisted and had a significant impact on regional travel. As small airlines increase their fleet to meet year-round travel demand, inter-island and regional airlift is expected to improve.
St Vincent also receives flights from London Heathrow, with Virgin Atlantic flying three times each week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays and from New York’s JFK, Caribbean Airlines flying twice per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
American Airlines started service to SVG on December 15, 2018.
