American Airlines will offer free Wi-Fi on most flights

(CNN) – More travelers will soon be able to surf the web while soaring among the clouds.

American Airlines announced free Wi-Fi access will be offered on the majority of its flights starting in January 2026.

But the perk will only be available to members of the airline’s loyalty program.

Officials say AT&T will back the new service by installing the needed equipment on the planes.

American is one of the last remaining U.S. carriers to charge people for internet access.
