Bilt Rewards is set to lose one of its first (and best) transfer partners later this year.
Bilt, the unique rewards program that allows travelers to earn points for paying rent, and American Airlines will “wind down” their partnership beginning in June, a Bilt spokesperson confirmed Wednesday after View from the Wing broke the news.
It’s unclear exactly when Bilt Rewards members will lose the option of transferring points to American AAdvantage miles. Bilt did not immediately respond to a request for additional detail.
After steadily adding more and more airlines and hotel chains to the list of Bilt transfer partners since launching back in 2021, this is the first loss for Bilt – and it’s a big one for members earning points on rent or with the *Bilt Mastercard*.
Transferring points from Bilt is one of the best ways to earn American AAdvantage miles from a credit card. While you can send Amex points to Delta or Chase points to United, American Airlines hasn’t partnered with one of the big banks in the same way.
The ability to turn Bilt points into AAdvantage miles was a big part of what makes those points so valuable. And it was a selling point for Bilt, which, after adding United as a transfer partner, gave members a way to turn their points into miles with two of the “Big Three” U.S. airlines.
You could transfer Bilt points to American to book flights on the airline itself … or any of its partner airlines, like Qatar Airways or Japan Airlines. Soon, that’ll no longer be an option.

With Bilt out of the picture sometime in June, that leaves American’s own co-branded credit cards like the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® and the AAdvantage World Elite Mastercard from Barclays as the only way to earn AA miles from credit cards going forward.
