Home run
Airlines are no strangers to sports sponsorships. Unlike Europe and other parts of the world, where several teams don airline logos on their jerseys, airlines typically retain naming rights to stadiums in the United States. American Airlines used to have its name on two arenas, one where the Miami Heat played, and the other where the Dallas Mavericks play. The Mavericks still play at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, near American Airlines’ headquarters in Fort Worth.
Earlier today, the Fort-Worth-based carrier announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with the Texas Rangers, becoming the Official and Exclusive Airline and Airline Rewards Program of the Texas Rangers. According to the airline, AAdvantage members will have access to exclusive perks like throwing out the first pitch, player meet and greets, and more. American will also offer unique opportunities to travel to the games.

Though this is the first time American has become the official and exclusive airline for the Rangers, it is not the first time the airline has partnered with the Rangers organization. In previous years, the two worked together in the community with Make-A-Wish, Medal of Honor Museum, Stand Up to Cancer, Seats for Heroes, Faces of Freedom, and other organizations.
As mentioned earlier, the new partnership will include a lounge at the stadium. The lounge will be an airline-branded First Base Lounge at field level.
Ron DeFeo, American’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer,
“The partnership is a home run for both American and baseball fans. Just as our airline connects people and places, we look forward to connecting fans with the excitement of baseball and unforgettable moments, especially for our AAdvantage members. It’s a celebration of teamwork, passion, and the thrill of the game.”
Jim Cochrane, the Rangers’ Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, added his excitement, saying the team and the airline will work together to provide meaningful opportunities to deserving recipients.
Recent American Airlines news
This week, Simple Flying reported that American had pushed back its plans to return to Tel Aviv. The ongoing conflict in the area has led the airline to further suspend its flights, much past the originally anticipated two months.

American initially expected a two-month suspension in October 2024. However, the suspension has now grown to a full year. Things often change in the aviation industry, and American may later decide to move its resumption forward, but as of now, flights will resume on October 26.

The carrier was previously planning to resume the flights in May.
View From the Wing added the extended suspension was not only because of the ongoing political situation but also because of a shortage of widebody aircraft in American’s fleet. American did not confirm this to Simple Flying but instead reinforced its commitment to the safety and security of its customers and employees.
