American Airlines increases baggage fees
If you want to fly with American Airlines, the first checked bag is now $40, or $35 if you pay before you get to the airport. The second bag will cost you $45.

American Airlines is launching a new nonstop flight from Phoenix.
The largest carrier at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport announced plans to fly a once-daily route to Provo, Utah, about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City, starting in October 2024.
American will also offer twice-daily flights to Provo from Dallas-Fort Worth. The announcements bring daily, year-round service to Provo Airport for the first time. In a statement, Provo Airport Director Brian Torgersen described Phoenix as an “exceptional major hub.”

When do American’s Phoenix to Provo flights begin?
American Airlines’ Phoenix-Provo flights will begin Oct. 7 on the Bombardier CRJ-700 airplane, which seats 65 passengers including nine in first class.
Phoenix-Provo flights will depart from Sky Harbor at 12:15 p.m. Arizona time. Provo-Phoenix flights will depart at 3:28 p.m. Mountain time.
American will be the third airline in metro Phoenix to offer service to Provo. Allegiant Air flies there from both Sky Harbor and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in east Mesa, and Phoenix-Provo was one of Breeze Airways’ first routes out of Sky Harbor.

What is Provo best known for?
Provo is best known as the home of Brigham Young University. The campus and its three free museums − the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum, BYU Museum of Paleontology and the BYU Museum of Art − are among the city’s cultural spots.
Provo also is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Tripadvisor users ranked the Provo Canyon scenic drive and one of the canyon’s waterfalls, Bridal Veil Falls, as the No. 1 and No. 2 things to do in Provo. The city is about 35 miles from Mount Timpanogos, the second-highest peak in Utah’s Wasatch Range.
