“Rude farting” American Airlines passenger kicked off flight

A “disgruntled” American Airlines passenger farted so excessively on a plane that he was kicked out after causing a delay to its take off. Before the scheduled flight from Phoenix, Arizona to Austin, Texas, the plane was forced to return to its gate after the “smelly incident.”

A fellow traveler from Texas, who described the incident as a “kinda funny story”, recounted the story on Reddit. “I was on a direct American flight from Phoenix to Austin and I was seated near the row where this situation occurred,” the social media user wrote.

Most people had already boarded the flight before the “audibly disgruntled about something” man made his way onto the plane. The Reddit user speculated that he was “maybe hungover” or having a “rough day”.

“As soon as he sat down he was grumbling about something under his breath, like ‘f***ing hell’ or something,” the passenger furthered. Things took a strange turn when the cranky man said: “You thought that was rude? Well how about this smell,” before loudly farting.

The social media user had no idea why the man decided to unleash the frightfully smelly fart. “It was uncalled for especially coming from a grown man on an airplane nonetheless, they wrote.

The people sitting next to the man in question were “ladies seemingly minding their own business. “I didn’t catch anyone’s response to that but the guy seated next to me and I exchanged smiles and shook our heads,” they further wrote on the Reddit post.

That wasn’t the end of the man’s anti-social behavior, however. The social media user said he became aggravated when people around him began eating. “The man who just purposefully farted moments ago decides to loudly and condescendingly say ‘Yeah, everybody let’s just eat the smelliest food possible all at the same time,'” they said.

This was the moment when the man’s fellow passengers had enough. “A guy in the row over replied, ‘If you don’t like it you can fly private’ to which fartman says ‘That’s so f***ing rude’, and another person nearby chimes in ‘I think we’d all agree you’re the rude one here,” the Reddit account holder wrote.

“Fartman replies something like ‘That’s just so low class’ and the other guy rebuttals with ‘Well you’re back here in economy with the rest of us'”. At this point, the Reddit user said that flight attendants intervened and told the man “that’s enough”. At which point, they announced: “apologies for the interruption but we are returning to the gate, we will give you more info when we have it.”

After the plane arrived at the gate, a flight attendant informed the man that he would be kicked out. “He simply replies, ‘I don’t understand’ and she tells him they’ll talk about it off the plane. He gets up, grabs his bag, and quietly exits the plane,” the social media user wrote.

The Reddit user praised the American Airlines staff for “swiftly” dealing with the man. “We all breathed a sigh of relief when he was removed, I think most ppl were on edge about what he may say or do next,” they wrote.
