American Airlines bus service has already reached about 150,000 passengers since 2022 and now that service is expanding.
American Airlines is expanding its bus program which means even more passengers will be able to skip the security lines at Philadelphia International Airport, writes Ariana Perz-Castells for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
American Airlines travelers flying out of PHL who purchase a special ticket can start clearing security Aug. 6 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and Oct. 7 at Wilmington Airport.
They would then board a Landline bus provided by the airline to PHL to catch their flight. Travelers can also board buses at PHL to ride back to their local airport.
“We can’t wait to greet new guests from Wilmington and Wilkes-Barre Scranton airports,” PHL CEO Atif Saeed said in a statement. “Landline has been a game changer for regional passengers. It provides them with access to hundreds of flights from Philadelphia International Airport, from the convenience of their local airport.”
American started its bus program from Atlantic City and Lehigh Valley International Airport in 2022.
The service lets regional passengers go through security at the smaller, less crowded airports and still fly out of Philadelphia. Its estimated about 150,000 passengers have taken advantage of the service to connect to or from PHL since 2022.
