Buck Taft, the Director of the Tri-Cities Airport, PSC, says. “We’re out here celebrating American Airline’s inaugural flight into the Tri-Cities. So, we finally have the last of the three legacy air carriers. We have Delta, we have United, and now we have American Airlines.”
The first flight took off at 2:15 pm, airport staff handed out cookies and keepsake bottles to celebrate the inaugural flight with the passengers.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony before the flight, we heard from stakeholders, the Tri-City Development Council or TRIDEC, leaders from visit Tri-Cites, and of course, Tri-Cities Airport leaders. “Just want to thank everyone that continues to fly out of the Tri-Cities Airport. The reason we’re successful is because our community supports our airport. We do our best from an airport’s side, and I know the airline side here locally, to give as much as we can a positive experience. And to get those customers to return, because we do know they have other options. But the community supports this airport, and we’re going to continue to do our best to support the community. ” Says, Taft.
The day wouldn’t be complete without a special ceremony, a water cannon salute.
