A British Airways flight from Vancouver to London has declared an emergency as it approaches the destination.
British Airways flight BA84, an Airbus A350-1000 from Vancouver, squawked transponder code 7700 as it transited Scottish airspace en route.

Having declared a general emergency, flight BA84 is currently maintaining cruising altitude FL390 (39,000 feet) and appears to be continuing to the destination London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
The nature of the problem prompting the emergency squawk is not yet known.

The long-haul flight from Vancouver (YVR) squawked transponder code 7700 from the cruise at FL390 as it transited Scottish airspace on the southerly route to the UK capital.

Flight BA84 is passing over Manchester in the British midlands, maintaining FL390 and also maintaining track for LHR.

The aircraft, an Airbus A350-1000 is now at the top of descent point (TOPD) and had left FL390 on the approach to London.
Weather is visual conditions (VFR) for the flight’s arrival into Heathrow, with visibility 10 kilometres or more. There is a broken cloudbase at 4,000 feet and RWY09 active for the arrival.
