British Airways has ended its sponsorship of Louis Theroux’s podcast, “Grounded with Louis Theroux.” The decision comes after the presenter interviewed controversial figures on the show, leading to a public backlash against the airline.
The sponsorship deal, which began in 2022, reportedly paid Theroux £100,000. The partnership came under scrutiny following interviews with individuals who have faced accusations of antisemitism, misogyny, and racism.
One particular interview that drew criticism was with Andrew Tate, a controversial online personality. The backlash intensified after Theroux also interviewed others who had made offensive statements.
Passengers and members of the public expressed their disappointment with British Airways’ association with the podcast, given the nature of some of the guests. This public outcry appears to have been the primary driver behind the airline’s decision to withdraw its sponsorship.
The National has reached out to British Airways for a comment on the situation.
