To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, British Airways is adding special festive features both on the ground and in-flight. During the Lunar New Year festival, passengers on flights between London and Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore will be treated to traditional dishes symbolizing luck and prosperity.
In First Class, passengers can enjoy a black pepper spiced fillet of beef with Chinese seven spiced broccolini, while Club World (business class) travelers can savor spicy Kung Pao prawn, a dish with origins in the Chinese Imperial Palace. A dessert of white chocolate tangerine mousse, representing gold in Chinese culture, is available in both First and Club World.
Passengers in World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy) can experience Lion’s Head meatballs, a traditional Huaiyang dish made of steamed pork in oyster sauce, symbolizing family unity.
Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways, expressed the airline’s commitment to making the journeys of those celebrating the Lunar New Year extra special, extending Happy Year of the Dragon wishes to them.
During the festival week, travelers passing through London Heathrow Terminal 5 will receive red envelopes containing chocolate coins, and lion dancers will perform in the terminal.
For passengers bound for London, British Airways’ customer service teams will be offering surprises like upgrades to Club World and lounge access. These special gestures will be extended particularly to passengers born in the Year of the Dragon.
The festive menu will be available on flights between Singapore, Hong Kong, and London from February 10th to 13th, 2024, between Beijing and London from February 13th to 18th, and between Shanghai and London from February 13th to 16th, 2024.
Selected customers on flights departing from Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore will also have the chance for surprise upgrades.
