British Airways has announced its decision to resume its service to Tel Aviv starting April 1, 2024. However, this return comes with a change in the flight routine. As opposed to the twice-daily flights previously operated, the Airline will now run this route only four times a week. A new feature in this revised service is a 45-minute stopover in Cyprus for a crew change, but passengers will not need to disembark during the stop. The London-Tel Aviv service will be operated using short-haul Airbus A320 aircraft.
Adjusting to the Similar Length Routes
The new decision to switch to short-haul planes for this route, at least for a month, is presented as a purely commercial one. The Airline aims to align the Tel Aviv route with other similar-length flights in its network, such as those to Cairo and Amman. This strategic move is seen as a way to optimize the flight schedule and ensure operational efficiency.
Passengers who have already booked their flights to and from Tel Aviv will be given several options. They can rebook on the new short-haul service, choose an alternative service, or request a refund. The Airline has assured its passengers that these changes are designed to provide the best service possible, and it is committed to assisting passengers in making these transitions as smooth as possible.
Kosher Meals and Future Evaluations
Despite these changes, British Airways confirms that kosher meals will continue to be available for pre-order, as before. The Airline also stated that it will evaluate this adjustment over time and may revise its decision based on operational efficiency, passenger feedback, and market dynamics. Other major airlines have also resumed flights to Tel Aviv from airports in Continental Europe, indicating a gradual return to normalcy in the aviation industry after the disruptions caused by the global pandemic.
