A flight bound for Edinburgh declared a general emergency mid-air on Thursday morning.
The British Airways flight BA8702 departed London City Airport at 7.48 before issuing a squawking code 7700 as it flew over the north of England.
The jet was expected to land in Edinburgh at 9am but arrived at the airport 20 minutes ahead of schedule at 8.41am after descending 2,000 feet on its approach.
