David Young, who’s been designing plane cabins for 20 years, told them it’s time for a change. He warned us: “I’d say we’re at a breaking point. We’ve hit as big as we can go.
“Maybe we don’t need carry-ons at all. Someone needs to step out and say, ‘We’re not doing this anymore. This isn’t the right experience for air travel.'”
Airline hand luggage rules
Last year, Frontier, an American airline, said they give their staff extra money for every bag they charge passengers for. They explained that the extra fee is “simply an incentive for our airport customer service agents to help ensure compliance with our policies and that all customers are treated equally.”
Meanwhile, if you’re flying with Ryanair, you can take one small bag that’s no bigger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm.
EasyJet lets you have one personal bag that’s no more than 45cm x 36cm x 20cm, Birmingham Live reports. And with Jet2, you can take one thing that fits under the seat and one cabin bag that’s up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm and weighs no more than 10kg.
TUI allows passengers to carry one personal item that fits under the seat in front and one cabin bag no bigger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, weighing up to 10kg.
British Airways, on the other hand, permits one personal bag no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm and one cabin bag no larger than 56cm x 45cm 25cm, with a weight limit of up to 23kg.

Luggage brand Antler has dropped prices on their suitcases and shoppers are rushing to get one that’s said to fit perfectly for Ryanair and EasyJet.
The Antler Tiber cabin luggage is quality-made with strong and light polycarbonate material and 360-degree wheels. Available in a stylish space grey colour, the Tiber cabin luggage is reduced from £165 to £99, giving shoppers a great saving of £66.
Other Antler cabin luggage is priced at around £170 or more, like the popular Clifton range with hand-finished wave design – but you can get the Tiber luggage for under £100, which is a bargain.
